Dyson Air Wrap

Dyson has done it again. Following the success of its new Supersonic Pro Edition hairdryer, which was relaunched in Australia earlier this year, the brand has announced another revolutionary hair styling tool, the Dyson Airwrap.

What is the Dyson Airwrap?
Dyson’s newest gadget is a styling tool that harnesses the power of airflow to create curls, waves, volume and smoothes the hair without extreme heat or tangling.

The Airwrap comes with eight attachments to create the desired style:

x2 30mm barrels
x2 40mm barrels
Firm Brush
Soft Brush
Round Brush
Pre-styling dryer
The science: how does it work?
The Airwrap is Dyson’s answer to what it saw as a gap in the market for effective styling tools that didn’t compromise the integrity of the hair. Formulated over more than six years, Dyson’s expertise in manipulating airflow lies at the heart of the new technology.

The Dyson digital motor V9 (the same one that powers its Supersonic) moves airflow through the Airwrap’s styling barrel (or one of three brush attachments, depending on the desired style), which is then dispersed out of six air slots around the barrel.

The pressure created by the motor at the top of the barrel creates a phenomenon known as “the Coanda effect” which allows the hair to curl around the barrel to style. There is no twisting, no pulling, and no tangling – the airflow will move in the same direction as your hair.

“As stylists, we often see the damage that extreme heat can have on hair. Many women have had to compromise on the condition of their hair to create the styles they want. So it’s incredible that Dyson has engineered a tool that enables women to achieve so many different styles and have the best possible hair styling experience. The Dyson Airwrap styler is a game changer, it’s what the styling industry has been waiting for,” said Peter Thomsen, international celebrity hairstylist and styling ambassador for Dyson Australia.

Dyson’s Airwrap is designed to create wet-to-dry styles, with three temperatures and fan speeds, as well as a cool shot to set the style. The technology features many of the same impressive features of the Supersonic, including intelligent heat control (a glass bead thermistor, which measures heat up to 40 times a second to regulate the product’s temperature) and the easy-clean magnetic filter.

For easy (and stylish) storage and transportation, the Airwrap and its many attachments come in a case designed by James Dyson himself.

Dyson is popping up temporarily in Sydney’s CBD from today until 4:00pm Sunday 14 October – those interested in booking a hair styling experience at the pop-up can reserve their spot via the Dyson Facebook events page. The Dyson Airwrap is RRP$699.

Vida Glow Cosmetics

We all know a beautiful makeup starts with beautiful skin. Prepping the skin before a makeup is just as important at the makeup itself and for this reason, good skincare is essential. Introducing Anna Lahey, the glowing, sparkling owner of Vida Glow. Vida Glow is an incredible range of skin and all over health products with ingredients including Marine Collagen.

Anna first discovered marine collagen while on holidays in Japan. She noticed collagen supplements were readily available in Japanese pharmacies and supermarkets, collagen drinks were available at the gym and she was even asked at a restaurant if she wanted her soup infused with collagen! After noticing the amazing skin of Japanese women she decided to do some research into it’s health benefits.

Collagen is the most abundant protein in our bodies, which slowly decreases with age, so it makes sense that replenishing our collagen levels has amazing benefits for our skin, hair, nails and health in general.

From this philosophy the Vida Glow range grew to include plant-based function beauty products with active ingredients.

Anna’s inspiration when creating her skincare range was the memories she had of her mum’s own skincare routine. She remembers the beautiful smells from the creams she used and the lovely textures. She has used this inspiration to recreate that experience into her own range.

The Vida Glow range is beautifully packaged in light pink with a rose gold trim. I particularly like the moisturiser, which is packaged in a pump container, which means the contents remain untouched making it perfect to use in your kit as the contents remain sanitized. It is light in texture and quickly and easily absorbed into the skin making it perfect as a base for a makeup application. It is also calming on the skin.

The other product perfect to include in your skincare prep is the Vida-Glow exfoliator. It is a gentle exfoliator combining non-abrasive particles of jajoba beads and bamboo that work gently to resurface the skin. The exfoliator is applied to a clean and dry face, which makes it perfect to apply in the makeup chair. After massaging with the fingertips, the exfoliator can be rinsed off leaving a fresh, clean skin – the perfect base for the rest of your makeup application.

The Vida Glow range is Australian certified organic, 100% Natural, Vegan, Non-GMO, with no soy, no fillers, no added sugars and no artificial ingredients. Vida Glow is made in Australia and we love to support our Australian beauty artists and business owners.

The Vida Glow range also includes supplements and protein powders, waters and Beauty bars!

Real Techniques Brushes

More and more, we as Makeup Artists are being asked to have vegan alternatives in our kits.  This is why it was so exciting to attend the event hosted by Real Techniques brushes and learn more about their cruelty free brushes.

Real Techniques brushes are designed by pro makeup artists Sam and Nic. The sisters have a combined 30 years of experience, both starting their careers as makeup artists soon after their sixteenth birthdays, working countless fashion shows, red carpets, editorials and collaborating with some of the top fashion photographers and magazines in the world. I love products designed by working makeup artists because they are always looking to solve the problems of pro artists.

The Real Techniques brushes have Taklon bristles and are ultra smooth and soft.  Since Taklon is synthetic it is 100% cruelty-free.  Each brush head is hand-cut to the perfect shape and remain true to shape even after continuous washing.

Real Techniques are good quality, affordable brushes.  I have a quite a few in my kit that are my ‘go-to’ brushes, such as the detailer brush and the lip brush.  They pick up a good amount of colour, blend beautifully and wash well.  Because they are synthetic they are quick to dry which is important when you have a lot of clients to get through.

If you are one to get confused by which brush does what, Real Techniques have made it easy!  Each brush has the purpose it is intended for on the handle plus each colour has it’s own job. Gold handles are for base, Pink handles for Sculpting, Purple for Eyes.

If you are just beginning, the brush sets are a great way to get your brush collection started and I love the slim plastic storage containers that are included.

So, if you are looking for some good quality, affordable vegan brushes to add to your kit, you can’t go past Real Techniques.  Available at Priceline or online at www.realtechniques.com.au
