Mirjana Laferlita   “My love for makeup was instilled from a young age. I regretfully ignored my passion for makeup in my teens and started my career working as a Vet nurse. As much as I loved working with animals, there was no creative outlet for me. To fill that hole, I enrolled myself into many makeup courses, work shops over the years. When my babies came along, instead of catching up on sleep I would watch Lisa Eldridge youtube videos over and over and over again! With the basics on board, I ventured out and started my bridal makeup business, while juggling nursing and a family. To make myself more versatile I wanted to learn how to style hair. So I approached Biba Hair in Melbourne and I learnt how to style hair on my days off and completed a certificate in up styles. As the years passed, I wanted to do more than just bridal. So I organised my very first TFP shoot at the age 34 which happened to take place at the amazing Koukei Photography Studio in Kilsyth. I was hooked! While juggling raising 3 young boys and working nights as a vet nurse I continued with the TFP shoots on my days off focusing on building up my portfolio and connections . My new folio suddenly opened up opportunities for paid work outside of bridal, such as working on big corporate events, fashion shoots with well known brands, music videos and film which is my main focus now having fallen in love with the industry. My biggest career achievement thus far is finally completing my Diploma of Specialist makeup only a just a week ago. It has certainly proved to be tricky starting and pushing for a new career but I would do it all again in a heartbeat!! I’m so grateful for the experience, opportunities, work and wonderful people I have met along the way. ”
